  • Identification Dog: Floppy Toy Identification

    Identification dog

I’m practicing scientific identification with no tail. But I need help on this one. Maybe one of those ornerybirdathologists could help. My daddy says that my floppy turkey toy isn’t really a turkey. But if not, what is it?

Here is what I know. My floppy toy has webbed feet

    floppy toy

And its legs are kind of long

    dog toy floppy

It gots a tiny little beak and beady eyes

    floppy toy corgi

And it doesn’t have any wings

    Floppy bird toy

It tastes a bit like furry doggie breath and sometime like the Molly. Help me identify my floppy bird! What do you think it is?

    • Ty, my extensive experience with stuffies leads me to believe that your floppy bird is actually an ostrich, not a turkey.

Ostriches are fun to play with!

You can pick him up by the middle and shakeshakeshake him till he bops you in the head with his feet and beak. That’s what I’d do.

    • i gots to agree with Kai. he’s older than me and is smarter about stuffies.

    • Ask your grandparents….

    • My grandmommy is an ornerybirdathologist, so I’m hopings that she will have an opinion.

    • I think it could be an ostrich, too!

    • Are you sure you didn’t chew off his wings? ;)

    • I didn’t eats the floppy wings. I tried to chew the squeaky inside of it out, but I couldn’t do it. It is one tough floppy bird!

    • Ty, maybe it’s an emu?

    • Hi ty,

I have no clue, but it does look like a terrific stuffie!

I have an award for you, if you wanna come get it.

      Wags & wiggles,
      Bijou

    • Thanks Bijou! I’ll play the tag/award game for my post tomorrow!

    • Before reading any of the comments, I was thinking Ostrich, as well, so looks like the majority think it is an Ostrich. Looks like loads of fun no matter what you call it though!

    • dear,ty
this is a dog named jazzie i think that your toy is just a fake turkey not one of the birds that any of the other people think because im a dog so that means i would know why dont you have a tail thats kind of weird how do you chase your tail when its not there

      jazzie

P.S. I have a brat cousin named cleocatra your mommy knows her but ive never seen her

    • Hi Jazzie! I do sometimes chase my tail, even though I don’t have one!

    • Oh, Ty. Bring him over here and I’ll gladly discect him for you, making sure all of his appendages are removed and all that’s left of him is his feeble outer shell. That’s why I do with ALL of my stuffies.

    • Grainger, my floppy bird has no stuffing. It makes it real hard to dissect it. I have tried and tried with no success! I can’t dissect my floppy penguin either!

    • Well Ty, I have been thinking about this all day and it is a puzzlement. The biggest problem is the lack of wings. The only really wingless birds are the Kiwis of New Zealand. But they have short legs, big seperate toes and long thin beaks.

There are a lot of other birds that don’t fly but they all have stubby wings. Are you sure you didn’t chew the wings off? It does look a lot like an Ostrich or an Emu, but they don’t have webbed feet and they do have wings.

Its shaggy body suggests a young Cormorant or a young Anhinga. They are water birds with long necks and they have webbed feet. But they fly and they have long wings.

I agree Ostrich/Emu is the thing that comes to mind at first glance. Perhaps it is a new species that has totally lost wings and has grown webbed feet as an adaption for running on mud flats or carpets cleaned by Roombas.

But I agree with your daddy. It definitely is not a turkey.

    • I’m going to call it my floppy emu because I don’t knows how to spell ostrich.

    • Ty – I just gots to sit down and looked at this. Good choice to call it an Emu. That was the first thing it looked like to me. Maybe your Gramma is right tho. Maybe its a new species that was adapted specially for cute little dogs with no tails.

    • Looks like its an ostrich :)

    • My Daddy is so smart!

    • Neva, Ty's grandma

Yes, it must be an ostrich. Your daddy used the cyberage approach to identification. We ornerybirdathologists often google around on the Internet until we find a picture that helps identify a bird.

Now you must learn to spell ostrich.
